Dartmoor National Park is minutes away for mountain biking, climbing and hiking – walk The Two Moors Way or 20 minutes later, with a quick trip across the Tamar Bridge, and you can be in Cornwall, heading for some of the UK’s most beautiful beaches.

Visit the traditional market towns of Ashburton, Tavistock and Totnes with their independent shops that offer a unique experience. Pop into Plymouth to visit the historic Mayflower Steps, in the Barbican. Walk along The Hoe with Smeatons Tower, whilst trying some delicious local Langage icecream. 

Plymouth also boasts multi screen cinema complex, ten pin bowling, dry slope skiing and the Mountbatten Water Sports. Additional fun can be had at Jump, Clip ‘n’ climb, Dartmoor Zoo, Mount Edgecombe, The Royal William Yard and not forgetting Plymouth Gin Distillery that has been in operation since 1793.

The National Marine Aquarium is a hop, skip and jump away, stop off for some Fish and Chips and then walk up to explore newly opened The Box, our transformed museum. With a female mammoth on display alongside the award winning restoration project of Naval ships figureheads that are suspended above you, colourful and larger than life it’s definitely worth a visit.

Why not use a local expert who can take you out for a guided walk, cycle ride or trip down the Tamar in a Kayak, from Lopwell Dam. There are plenty of National Trust properties to visit – Saltram, Buckland Abbey, Anthony House and Cotehele are all within 40 minutes and if a special garden is your thing then The Garden House, Buckland Monachorum is glorious whatever time of year you are coming.
