Mrs L here - just reflecting on the brilliant day I had at with @f.t.coney learning all about his farm and the sustainable tree work he does. We visited as part of my L4 Regenerative Land Based Systems course through the @apricotcentre. Fletch held the Agroforestry module over three days on farm and in the classroom. On day 2 we visited @riverford looking at their recently planted agroforestry with @blewinbell and day 3 was at @moortrees. This is Mr L as you all know. What you may not re This is Mr L as you all know. What you may not realise is that he’s standing in one of the swales and burm we’ve installed as part of our water management work across the farm. I’ll try and find photos of when it has rained with water running through it for you all. This one collects water from the field to his right and a track behind. It moves the water across the land into one of our new ponds where it sits and soaks back into the trough to recharge the groundwater levels. The magic about this swale and burm is that if you did not know it was there you’d just walk past it however it’s super efficient. A bit of work with a mini digger for speed to install but you could do one by hand. A smidge of maintenance each year with a spade. No pipework. No plastic. No embedded carbon. No pumps. Just the land with a gentle slope and gravity moving 1000’s of litres of water. #watermanagement #swaleandburm #porshamfarm #waterattenuation #regenerativefarming

Allow nature to connect with you by being present and paying attention to what is happening around you. What can you see? What can you hear? What can you smell? What can you feel? Slow down.
