There is a slight something in the air!!! Hello he There is a slight something in the air!!! Hello hello 🌧️. Just a spot or two. Am watching the Tamar Bridge. If it disappears in the rain then it should head this way. If it stays visible then the majority of the rain skirts the brown hill you can see and follows the river up the valley instead. Not going to jinx it. I’ve hung washing out!!! #rain #fingerscrossed #farm24 #porshamfarm #summet2026

This has given the grasses and herbs time to build up growth and increase their biomass - their roots and leaves, and strength in the form of their energy reserves giving them resilience in the event of a dry period - which we now have! We’ve been building up our pasture covers across the farm since April this year after we tapped into the brilliant knowledge of @earth.farmers Tim Williams when he visited in late spring and thank goodness we did. Thank you Tim! We are also feeding the cows some haylage to ensure our herbal ley stocks last until the rains come. Here is Will delivering them some. #grazing #farm24 #porshamfarm #herballeys #summer2026
Our cows can graze outside all year. Here are our Our cows can graze outside all year. Here are our dry cows in the herbal ley with the Tavy in the background. We’ve let the herbal ley grow up tall to then become standing hay. This crop provides the best balance between energy and fibre for our girls waiting to calve. #porshamfarm #farm24 #grazingcows #herballey #devonlife
