An almost organic, high welfare Red Tractor Devon farm. Pasture fed retired Dairy Beef. Forest school. Camping. Rewilding. Tree planting. Wildlife.

We’ve sold out of our Wagyu cross and Retired Dair We’ve sold out of our Wagyu cross and Retired Dairy Beef Sirloin’s and Ribeye’s however the forecast for this coming weekend is showing it’s still going to be perfect BBQ weather. Contact Mrs L and arrange a visit to pick up some of our Rump or Chuck-eye steaks and you can keep the whole family happy by adding some of mince and classic sausages for the grill. #porshambeef #porshamretireddairybeef #smashburgers #weekendcooking #slowfood
We’ve been thinking hard recently about possible d We’ve been thinking hard recently about possible directions to further diversify…….. or not. Creating space in the diary is not always easy - there is often the feeling that you have to justify time off when you are self employed - especially in farming. As we are getting older we need less things and so for our birthday’s and anniversary we decided to ‘do stuff’ instead to aid our research and development process. So I booked us a couple of Busman’s Holidays!! Mr L could not believe his luck - other farms to visit - what could better he said. First up:- The Collective at Woolsery in North Devon. This enterprise is all about agrotourism with Birch Farm overseen by @joshua_sparkes providing space for farm tours, the most amazing food and workshops. We booked a tour - walking through the 17acres given over to fruit and veg production. We heard about their different planting systems, about variation in yield and pest control measures. All of it was inspiring especially knowing Marina O’Connell, who had taught Will at The Apricot Centre, had designed some of the initial planting over 7 years ago. After the tour we had a home grown/home raised long table supper in the prettiest Potting Shed I have ever seen! Staying for B&B in their beautiful village based rooms allowed for a fab cooked breakfast and supper in their pub - The Farmers Arms all again showcasing British food and service at its best before heading home. This was an interesting project to have read about last year and then to finally visit. We would recommend a visit for fine food and the chance to see that you don’t have to weed the veg garden!!! #permaculture #birchfarm #syntropicsolutions #britishfoodexperiences #foodforest
Here’s a spicy chilli I made recently with some of Here’s a spicy chilli I made recently with some of our retired dairy beef. This animal was a Swedish Red x Jersey slow grown on our farm. I enjoy cooking and enjoy it more when I know where the food has come from. 1x 500g pack of mince, lots of locally grown veggies, lentils and @boldbeanco chickpeas allowed the mince to go further. It feed our family of four for 2 suppers and an extra serving for Mr L’s lunch. 9 portions in all. #eatlessmeateatbettermeat #slowgrownfood #homecooking #slowfood #porshamretireddairybeef
Last month Mr L and I were invited to Exeter Uni t Last month Mr L and I were invited to Exeter Uni to be panellists at Gather. The South West’s Food and Drink Summit. run by @fooddrinkdevon. A truly fantastic day with incredible speakers from across the food and drink industry - Farmers, Producers, Restaurant’s & Hospitality, Food Charities, Researchers and Policy Makers. Inspiration in every room. We were delighted to join in separate discussions covering the topics 1: Change Makers From Ground Up and 2:Championing The Next Gen Hospitality hosted by @rachelphillips_apricotcentre and Colin from @groundupcookeryschool. We talked about our journey into regenerative farming, what work is still to be done, resilience, future plans, teaching, supplying direct into hospitality and our enjoyable connection with future chefs through @cityplym and @pl1restaurant. There was plenty of time during the day to mingle and to meet some new friends - such a range of people we’d not usually find ALL in one room. Mr L came home with some @barbersbeantobar2020 chocolate - never one to pass up that opportunity (!!). What a wonderful achievement Food Drink Devon Board and Staff. You all worked so hard to create an efficient enjoyable day with such a buzz in the room. Thank you to you and our fellow panellists @devonfoodpartnership @foodincommunity @tamargrowlocal @apricotcentre @wildwineschool @glebehousedevon @groundupcookeryschool for sharing food stories and ideas #fooddrinkdevon #porshamfarm #gather2026 #resilience #buylocal
