Our Pigs
Since 2023 we have kept a small drove of pigs. Initially this came about to allow us, friends and family to have home grown pork and a bit of variation in animal care for our Apprentice at the time.
Numbers in our meat box scheme have grown so we have increased pig numbers allowing us add Gloucester Old Spot x Tamworth pork, sausages and bacon to our meat box offering.
We firmly believe that every farm should have pigs. These wonderful animals are natures recyclers and help us to reach our goal of becoming a closed loop farm.
The piggies are mostly pasture based with lots of grazing and rooting about – they have a small amount of supplemental feed which they enjoy, and this helps in getting them to follow us when we need to move them from their winter to summer grazing without stress.
